I’ve spent the past 12 years in private practice, as well as inpatient and outpatient facility work. I have treated many people for OCD while helping adults dealing with addiction. I’ve also treated first responders & veterans for depression, anxiety, and severe trauma. As a NOCD therapist, I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, proven to be the most effective form of treatment for OCD. But I also know that ERP works because ERP changed my life.
My first experience with OCD came when I was 10 years old. OCD prevented me from doing the things I loved to do. I relied on daily rituals and constant checking, feeling that I had to get patterns down just right. But ERP saved me. ERP teaches you to not rely on your compulsions by having you sit with your anxiety while facing your fears. ERP is challenging, but once you learn the tools to manage OCD, life just gets better.
