My approach is creative, collaborative, and person-centered. As a therapist, I like to be a curious observer, understanding how OCD shows up for you. Although ERP sessions are quite structured compared to typical talk therapy, the work will be tailored to your experience. The goals of therapy may sound lofty, but we take them one step at a time. We just focus on that next step. I have also treated anxiety, depression, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I’m interested in ideas around shame, social connection, grief, belonging, and acceptance of uncertainty.

What inspires me in this work

When people share that they're doing really fun, meaningful, valued things in their lives that they were previously avoiding because of OCD—and I see their faces light up when they talk about it—it's so inspiring. Seeing that happen for just one person makes me want it for everyone I'm working with.

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

I try to be present and authentically myself. I know that therapy is a very unique experience that's not really comparable to anything else—you're telling another person things you may have never told anyone before, while they tell you very little about themselves. If that feels uncomfortable and takes some time to get used to, that's okay. One step at a time.

How I show up for Members

If I'm going to ask my Members to do challenging things regularly, I'd better be doing the same. It's inspired me to try challenging things in my own personal life, in solidarity with my Members.

My approach to ERP and supporting progress

I've seen exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy work well enough times to feel confident in its effectiveness. Watching ERP work is a beautiful thing to witness. If progress is taking longer than expected, I try to figure out what's going on and work with Members to see what could be improved or tweaked. If OCD has restricted someone's life, I want to do everything I can to help them work toward loosening up those restrictions.
