As a therapist, I really focus on building rapport first. I want you to feel comfortable with me. I know it's hard to open up about all the stuff that goes into your mind, especially when it comes to OCD. I'll focus on what you want to accomplish in therapy. How would you like your life to change? We'll look at the big picture, then take baby steps to get there. Outside of work, I enjoy planting and gardening. I live in the Bronx, but I have a backyard and love planting tomatoes and peppers. I also have a pitbull that I absolutely love.
Sometimes being scared and hiding is easier than doing work to feel better and sustain it long-term. Don't be afraid of feeling bad for the short term, if it means you're training yourself to feel better and live a better life.
