As a licensed therapist for over 5 years, I've seen many people who displayed OCD symptoms but had trouble accessing proper treatment. I've also treated people for addiction, anxiety, and other challenging mental health issues, but I became truly motivated to specialize in OCD treatment. I've seen significant improvement with most NOCD members I've worked with by using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy. It's because of ERP that people have gotten back to living normal, functional lives.
Intrusive thoughts cause feelings of fear, shame, and doubt. Your OCD does a great job convincing you that these thoughts are part of your character and could lead you to act on them. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Your OCD loves to make you chase after compulsions to relieve anxiety and thrives on having you repeat them. I want you to know that ERP can help you out of the grasp that OCD has on you. I have experience in treatment looking for recovery, so I know what it's like to seek help.
