About

As a therapist, I always try to lead with empathy and support. I truly believe you're the expert on your own life, so I want to put you in the driver's seat. I always make sure we're learning skills in session, so you have kind of a toolbox to use until we meet again. When I'm not doing therapy, I love to cook. I'm always in the kitchen, coming up with new vegetarian recipes or desserts. I'm always down to bake a pie or experiment with food. That's how I do self-care.

You are so brave for taking that first step, and it is the hardest part—saying “I need help.” You've already done half the work just by signing up and by making that effort.

Tara is an amazing therapist. She has helped me so much this past year. She always reminds me of how far I’ve come when I can’t see my own progress.

When I started this program, I could not see how it could functionally work for my OCD subtypes. We laid out the hierarchies and the triggers and I was just baffled how this approach was going to help. I was wrong. Tara and I got to work and things began to make so much more sense. The exposures that we worked on in therapy were not just limited to my living room. Multiple times, Tara sat on the phone with me while I went in public and confronted my triggers head on. After a few months, spikes that would last for 2-3 weeks now lasted for a 1-3 days. The biggest change: the anxiety that came with the obsessions had been greatly diminished if not eliminated completely. I was able to have the thought and just treat it like any other thought. It happened so subtly, I didn’t immediately notice the progress…but it was there. This success is of course a testament to the work I did, however, I cannot say enough about Tara as a therapist and a human being. She was insightful, understanding and she pushed me when I didn’t want to be pushed. Excellent program. Excellent therapist. I am over the moon with the results.

I have severe, and various types of, OCD, and I truly appreciate all that Tara has done, and does, to help me (and my family). I also had severe depression when I joined NOCD, and I can honestly say that she saved my life. I cannot thank her enough.

When I first started working with Tara I was hesitant because I was worried about telling her all the crazy thoughts I had in regards to ocd. As time went on I felt more comfortable to share how my ocd affects me and my everyday life. Long story short I’ve had ocd for about the past 6 years and the last two have been the toughest. At one point during the time I was working with Tara I had to drop out of college and put a hold on my life. For three months I was depressed (didn’t eat, shower etc.) and throughout all this Tara never gave up on me once. She was determined to get me better and give me the confidence to take my life back and not let ocd keep a hold on it. So, after these past couple of sessions and coming out of a depressive episode I have finally taken my life back! ocd now has little to no affect on my life and I can get the things done that I want to get done such as school, work, shower etc. Through all this again Tara did not once give up on me and was always doing her best to give me everything that I needed. I highly recommend her and I appreciate all she’s done for me. With her help I now live my live with uncertainty and how I like to say it is living life on the edge:)
