You’ve been asking me to write a review for a while now so I figured today is a good day to do it. Ebony, I said thank you today but you saved my life, truly you did. 7 months ago I was in a dark place, OCD was controlling everything I did and you helped me pull myself out of it. I learned so much working with you. So thank you again from the bottom of my heart, you are a hero.

I was so glad to have found this program, since there are not many out there specifically for OCD. The therapist I have is amazing, she makes sure to talk about the treatment, she asks me how i’m doing (and actually listens), and she always knows how to engage in the topics we talk about. I love how she actually has conversations with me, instead of just reading off of a paper asking questions. She has a passion for this which makes it even better, so she understands and reassures me that my feelings/thoughts are valid. We are always going over the treatment plan and how to challenge myself. I feel like I wouldn’t be where I am right now if it wasn’t for her. Special thank you to her and this program!

I had an initial consult with an NOCD therapist. I have health OCD and germ OCD. I also have some real health problems, but my fear around them is agonizing. I was hoping to find ways to cope with the rumination and catastrophic thinking around the health OCD. My therapist seemed to have zero experience with this. Like it was the first person they ever talked to with health OCD. That’s fine. However, in my intake form I was very thorough about my particular issues. I had hope to be paired with someone with experience. At the end of the call, she told me she wasn’t sure I was a good fit for NOCD, but would check with her supervisor and connect with me again. After that I never heard from anyone again. It was a totally alienating experience. It took a lot of courage to reach out and find therapy. I know a lot about OCD, it was odd to be told I wasn’t a good fit. I felt pretty sad and a bit rejected after being dropped after one call. I feel nothing I said on the call was bizarre or out of line. I did not feel cared for, but a burden. I wish someone would have taken the time to pair me with a therapist who thought they could help, instead of dismissing me because I wasn’t in their realm of experience. Honestly, I felt I knew more about OCD, the brain, trauma, the nervous system and exposure therapy than my therapist.

I have found out more about OCD from NOCD than I have in 28 years of having OCD. The app has been a great comfort- from reading forums, life stories of OCD survivors or realizing that OCD has subtypes that I cycle through. The customer service was top notch and also having a peer advisor was wonderful. But when it came to actual therapy I was less impressed. My therapist only seemed interested in the ERP process rather than finding out anything about how my OCD makes me feel-which could help her know what exposures I should be doing. She took days to respond to my messages sometimes and came to sessions underprepared in my opinion. Sessions felt more like a class than a therapy session. She was very easy to talk to and kind but I just didn’t feel a connection that would lead to healing. Also kudos to NOCD because when there was a billing issue, they took responsibility and ate the cost for which I am super grateful. Thank you for this beautiful resource. When the time is right I may try another therapist in the future. ERP takes commitment and time which I was lacking at the time being a busy parent.
