About

I love NOCD's treatment model. It gives you the ability to start treatment with increased frequency, which can make it intense. However, this is the best time to be focused and motivated and create the change you desire for yourself. As you learn how to tolerate discomfort, lean into those feelings, and make strides toward improvement, an "a-ha" moment occurs. You realize you are not your OCD—you are not your thoughts, and you can tolerate them. Some facts about me: My Christian faith is very important to me. I love working with people from all around the world; the diversity is such a joy to experience. I am bilingual and speak fluent Dutch and English. I was raised in the Netherlands (as a Dutch Navy brat) and have lived in the U.S. and the Netherlands for half my life. I am a cat lover to the core, and I appreciate sarcastic humor.

Helping people has always been part of my identity. I started my career as a nurse but soon learned I was more interested in the patient's personal side. Trauma and depression have been a part of my own journey, and treatment changed my life for the better. I still remember the therapist who made an impact on me. I'm grateful I had support while learning to be brave and face difficult things in my past.

OCD can be an intense and debilitating disorder. Even within the mental health field, it remains misunderstood. That breaks my heart. I love and support NOCD’s mission to bring awareness and eradicate OCD. I know it can work; I’ve seen my members find hope again.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I've worked in hospitals and hospices, residential care, outpatient, community mental health, and private practice. I’ve worked with people of all ages but love working with children and the whole family. My specialties are anxiety, OCD, trauma, parenting, Christian counseling, ADHD and behavioral issues, and neurofeedback.

Don’t wait until you feel it’s the right time—start NOCD Therapy today. You'll be one day closer to regaining the life you desire. I’ll work with you to find the courage that gets you through recovery and learn to thrive again. You’ll find me to be a great listener, passionate about helping and instilling hope. ERP sessions are very structured, and if you've been in therapy before, that may take some getting used to. Learning new behaviors means daily practice. The goal is for you to become your own ERP therapist; I will be your supportive cheerleader. Let me hear your story so we can work together to overcome your OCD.

Remind yourself that you've already done the most scary thing—acknowledging you need professional help, and asking for that help. You may be hesitant to talk about OCD, but I’ll help you find the courage that gets you through recovery. Remember: I have heard it all before. I want you to know that you're not alone. I'm here to support you in your journey.
