My personal connection to OCD and mental health

My mother was diagnosed with OCD. As a child in the home, her experience with navigating her obsessions and compulsions was influential. It influenced me to start therapy myself, and essentially inspired me to want to become a therapist.

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

I come in with a sense of openness, curiosity, and understanding. I'm not going to compare your life to others. I want to hear about you. I'll bring empathy and compassion.

My message to you if you're struggling right now

I know that therapy can seem scary, but living in the way you are currently living can be just as scary. The worst thing that could happen is that you make a change in your life, or you just stop coming. You have to give everything a chance, be open, and be honest.

What I want to help you see in yourself

I want you to see that you're resilient, that you're able to handle stress, and that you're capable of moving within your environment. I like to ask, "How can we make sure that you're able to be flexible and go with the flow in your treatment?" I want to help you be more open and able to accept things as they come.
