My approach to treating OCD
I've seen how OCD symptoms can be misunderstood, or dismissed as quirks or excessive worrying. I know there is a lack of knowledge about OCD, so I try to prioritize education, give you a clear explanation of the OCD cycle, and explain how treatment is going to help.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
I make people feel welcome and I give them the ability to show up as they are. I do that by creating a non-judgmental space, honoring each person's background, and bringing structure to treatment. I will always provide a clear outline of the goals and expectations to help you feel safer and understand that I'm going to show up for you.
What I want to help you see in yourself
I want to help you see your courage and autonomy—your ability to make choices and take charge of your healing and growth. I'll support you in understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and building self-compassion. We all struggle or make mistakes, and I think being able to show yourself kindness is crucial.
My message to you if you're considering therapy
It's normal to feel uncertain about anything that you're unfamiliar with. It's important to understand that treatment will be a collaborative effort, and you'll be in control of the pace. Exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy works because it helps you to build confidence in your ability to handle distress and anxiety. If you decide to take this journey, you'll be supported every step of the way.
