Get to know Jessie Goodman

I was living in New York and didn’t feel like I was giving back to society in a tangible way. I realized my desire to support people on their journeys of personal growth combined well with my ability to understand people and their emotions. That led me to pursue a career in therapy.

I was able to work at an OCD intensive outpatient program in Pittsburgh, where I saw firsthand the effectiveness of ERP in treating OCD. I saw people get their lives back, whether that was returning to school or work, resuming friendships or relationships, or whatever they wanted to do.

I have worked with people struggling with depression, other anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders. I've utilized treatment modalities like ERP, CBT, DBT, and MBSR.

Doing ERP and challenging OCD will feel uncomfortable, especially at first. Getting used to it is often like getting into a cold pool. At first, it’s freezing; then you start to tolerate it. The water temperature didn’t change, you did! We will create a plan to help you face OCD, disengage from rituals, and get back to doing what you want to do.

My hope is to create a brave, nonjudgmental, compassionate space where you can feel free to share your thoughts. I promise you, I've heard many different things over the years, and you will not shock me.

Living with OCD obsessions and compulsions for most of my life, it feels amazing to finally be talking to someone about the different types of OCD that I struggle with, and knowing that I will become the boss of OCD and not the other way around. Jessie is an incredible therapist that keeps things on track, and is really good at communicating throughout the therapy session. It was amazing that Jessie was the first therapist that I spoke to and I feel like it is a good match. What a relief.
