About

I am a very person-centered therapist. I share that foundation with treating OCD. I want to learn, understand, and meet each member where they're at, build a trusting and balanced relationship, and walk through this process together. I live in Colorado and love jeeping in the mountains and riding our Harley through the mountain roads. I love to travel and go on cruises when life allows. I also love reading; my favorite genre is fantasy and sci-fi.

Therapy is my second career. I originally worked at an investment firm, in a cubicle running numbers. Then I had a major life-changing event: I became a single mom of four boys and needed to change careers. I wanted to do something I was passionate about, so I decided to go back to school to become a counselor and learn how to help and support others. As the saying goes, 'If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life.'

While training to become a therapist, we're encouraged to seek out therapy and do our own work. On my mental health journey, I discovered that I had OCD with a couple of co-morbidities. I also learned that other members of my family have OCD. I've worked with many mental health challenges with different modalities and in different settings. I felt the drive and passion to help the OCD population. I know from my own experiences that OCD has the power to stunt our lives if we don't know how to take back the power OCD steals.

I started my counseling journey as a school counselor, so I have many years of working with kids and adolescents. I then transitioned to the clinical side and have worked in acute care hospitals with populations with bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, PTSD, and other disorders. I then again transitioned to private practice where I worked with children to adults with bipolar, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and personality disorders.

Another one of my favorite quotes is actually the title of a book: Feel the fear and do it anyway. Fear is an essential part of being human; it's an emotion that's important to feel and process. Thousands of thoughts come and go throughout our day, sometimes with purpose and others for no purpose at all. They're not all positive or the healthiest. Our thoughts do not define us, nor should they control us.
