Why I became a therapist
I became a therapist because I experienced the work that my therapist did with me, and I wanted to be that person who promoted change and helped others. I decided to specialize in OCD because I saw the struggle that people experiencing OCD had, and I wanted to provide the education they needed to understand what they were going through. It's an area I'm always interested in learning more about.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
I provide a space where you feel safe to lead with your concerns. We'll look at the things you want to work on and the things you're not ready to work on yet. I see you as the expert on you, and we'll move forward from there. In sessions, I provide an environment where you'll feel understood but also challenged. I like to see progress, and I encourage that in my sessions because I know you'll want to see progress too.
My message to you if you're considering therapy
Exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy is a very structured approach that helps us really look at the things you're struggling with and target those fears. It's a very effective treatment with strong evidence behind it, so I would say it's worth giving it a try.
The most rewarding part of treating OCD
The most rewarding part is seeing the change that my Members experience with ERP. Seeing their faces as they realize they're making progress and changes in their lives is incredibly rewarding.
