My personal connection to OCD and mental health

I struggle with my own anxiety, which helps me relate to the challenges my Members face with OCD, anxiety, or depression. Before I came to NOCD, I worked with people with OCD and kept feeling like there had to be a way I could better help them. Learning about the nature of OCD and ERP through my training at NOCD has made me better equipped to provide effective care.

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

I check in with my Members regularly during our sessions and slow things down when we need to. We make whatever adjustments are needed to help you feel safe and supported. I can usually tell when we're comfortable with one another by how we chit-chat, joke, or stay in the moment without taking ourselves too seriously.

What I want you to stay connected to

I want you to remember the things you value—the things that are important to you that it may feel like OCD is holding you back from. If you want to visit certain places in the world or pursue hobbies and goals, but OCD gets in the way. I want to help you move toward those things again.

My message to you if you're considering therapy

I'll be honest with you and say that there are parts of exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy that can be challenging. But if we don't take steps to face our fears, we stay stuck in the same cycle of anxiety. If you're going to feel distress either way, I'd rather it come from something that helps you overcome your fears. ERP helps you get a payoff and move forward.
