I became a therapist to help close the gap in mental health services by African-American providers. I love learning about people's life stories; I believe people deserve to be seen deeply. This is a welcoming and safe space for all. By specializing in OCD, I hope to allow those affected to receive quality, focused care. In addition to OCD, I have experience treating ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and working with women of color.

My message to you if you're struggling right now

I'm a human just like you. I know that you're nervous. This might be your first attempt at therapy. I'll try to make you as comfortable as possible by showing my human side. I think my experiences help me see people more clearly. I can provide context as someone who's had mental health struggles and has been in your shoes with opening up to someone who you've never opened up to before.

What I want to help you realize

That two things can be true, that you're redeemable, and that you have value. These are unwanted thoughts. You're not a monster, and you're not alone.

What my Members say helps them feel comfortable with me

I don't take myself too seriously. I tend to be laid back and accommodating. My work before NOCD was primarily with women and women of color, and a lot of people would say that I'm warm and inviting. I've heard people say that I make them feel like their issues matter, no matter how small they are. Some people don't want to bring their issues to session and I'm like, "No, they're yours, and they matter."

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

I wake up Black every day, so I have that experience for other people of color, or people who identify as "other." I think that is valuable. I know there is a huge disparity in mental health care when it comes to clinicians of color, so I do take pride in that and find joy in supporting people who are looking for that community.
