I became a therapist because I believe in the power of connection, empathy, and understanding. I work closely with members to understand their specific obsessions and compulsions, using gradual exposure to feared situations while helping them resist compulsive behaviors. I also integrate mindfulness and acceptance strategies to foster self-awareness and compassion. My goal is to help you regain control of your life and reduce the interference of OCD, leading to improved well-being. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, couples issues, and life transitions.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health
Mental health is something I have been interested in since I became a parent. I wanted to make sure that I was providing my son with the best possible start to life with me as his mom. I was able to understand that although our past informs our future behaviors we are ultimately in charge. When we get into a cycle of trying to analyze every thought we can get ourselves stuck in a spiral that we cannot get out of. But we can! When we better understand that our thoughts are just that, thoughts, we learn that we can live the life we want despite the thoughts/fears that pop into our head.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
My personality. I'm open, and I do share life experiences or even identify some similarities, just so that you don't feel alone in some of your thoughts. I'm human, and you're human, and we're humans together. I'm a person, not just a professional. I genuinely really care about how you're doing, and it brings me a lot of joy to see you improve and see you doing better.
What I want to help you see in yourself
I want to help you go from hopeless to feeling more hopeful, and learn that you can handle your thoughts. Thoughts are just thoughts. Thoughts are not facts. Anything in life is possible, but it doesn't mean it's probable, right? When you really start to adapt the response prevention messages that we use in therapy, you start to feel better. You start to understand, "My thoughts are just thoughts, and I can't control every thought that comes to my brain. That's why it's called an intrusive thought. But what I do know now, what I'm learning, is that I can control what I do with those thoughts."
My message to you if you're struggling right now
You've got this. It may seem hard, it may seem tough, but just know that you're never going to be where you are today, because every day is a different experience, and every day is a lesson. Even when you feel like you're falling back or taking a few steps back, it's never as much as you really think it is. The arrow has to be pulled back before it can get pushed forward. Progress over perfection!
