OCD therapy involves facing fears and discomfort directly. This won't feel good in the short term, but think of it like taking out the trash. It has to be done, and when it is, you feel much better. I will be here to support you with taking out that trash (and that can include literal trash!) My style is transparent, fairly direct, and action-focused. I like to streamline the process to get my members results faster. I have also treated anxiety, depression, and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs).

My personal connection to mental health

I've been personally impacted by a loved one's mental illness. Seeing them struggle with their symptoms is what led me to become a therapist—I wanted to help others not have to go through the same thing alone. Growing up in a small town also showed me how stigma can impact people's ability to get help and make them feel isolated. I wanted to help change that.

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

I let my Members know they can come to me exactly as they are. OCD can get very creative with scary topics and scenarios, but I've heard all kinds of things, and not much really fazes me. You can feel confident about sharing what you choose. My Members have told me my calm, steady attitude helps them relax—I've even been called a rock or an anchor.

My message to you if you're considering therapy

I want my Members to know that behavior therapy, like exposure and response prevention (ERP), is completely doable. OCD often tries to make things more complicated than they really are. Even if facing discomfort directly doesn't feel good in the short term, it often leaves you feeling much better afterward. My approach focuses on cutting through OCD's distractions and getting to the heart of the issue so Members can tackle it effectively.

The most rewarding part of treating OCD

It's incredibly satisfying to witness my Members realize that OCD isn't as scary as it pretends to be. People are much stronger than they realize, even when OCD tries to convince them otherwise. I've seen my Members go from feeling overwhelmed at home, at work, and in their relationships to enjoying time with their families and feeling more comfortable in their own bodies. I've also watched Members face intrusive thoughts at their own pace and later feel ready to reconnect with loved ones—and even pursue lifelong goals. Those moments are incredible to witness.

Good experience

I was scared to start therapy and almost quit because I didn’t know what to expect. But I stayed. Nicole made me feel comfortable, motivated, and safe enough to keep going. Now I’m starting to see changes in myself, and that makes me extremely happy.

Good experience

I think this is the most respectful therapist i’ve ever had. She really listens to you and acknowledges what you are going through. She shows no judgment and it was really easy for me to open up just after two sessions. She makes sure that you know that ocd is something that does affect our lives and she makes you feel heard.

Good experience

Nicole is very intentional with her words and listens carefully to what I say and don’t say. I’ve never met with a therapist who understands OCD the way she does and it has had a major impact even thought we’ve only had two sessions and haven’t started treatment yet. I feel confident that this is going to work.
