Even though I haven't been diagnosed with OCD, I know how much anxiety can disrupt a life. Anxiety is a key part of OCD, and I want to help those with OCD reclaim control of their lives. In my years as a therapist, I've treated those with generalized anxiety disorder, substance use dependence, depression, borderline personality disorder, and schizophrenia, among other mental health issues. Therapy is a process that takes time, effort, and motivation, even if it's sometimes uncomfortable. The end result will be worth it.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I've dealt with mental health issues, and so have several of my family members. Seeing how these conditions affected their lives really made an impact on me. It's been very stressful—not only for them, but for other members of the family. That encouraged me to get into the field of being a therapist.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
I tend to have a very positive outlook, and I think that's very supportive to Members. Sometimes people will start therapy feeling very depressed, or dealing with a lot of negative thinking. Approaching things with a little bit of humor and positivity can make all the difference when we're struggling.
What I want to help you see in yourself
I want you to see that you can manage and tolerate the distressing thoughts that OCD brings. I want to encourage you to grow that strength, and I want to promote more positivity in your life.
My message to you if you're considering ERP therapy
Exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy is the most effective treatment for OCD, and what I've seen in my time here at NOCD is just how fast-paced it can be. Even within a month or two, we can see substantial improvement. This is not your standard talk therapy. ERP was made for OCD, and its success is just through the roof.
