About

My counseling philosophy is based on the therapist being the facilitator of processes that support you in finding solutions to your problems and empowering you to take responsibility for your own outcomes and solutions. Outside of work, I love traveling, swimming in the ocean, visiting places I’ve never seen before, walking the streets and meeting new people in lands foreign to me. My goal is to travel outside of the U.S. at least twice a year, and increase my confidence to travel greater distances each year.

Get to know Cornelia Golden

My desire to help others led me to become a professional counselor. I'm often the go-to person for family and friends when they need an ear or shoulder. I enjoy listening to others, which can be comforting, and in many instances, gives rise to insight and resolutions for the person being heard.

My determination to help reduce the rate of misdiagnosis of OCD, and to help others change negative behaviors and achieve their goals, has led me to become an OCD specialist.

As a counselor, I am passionate about empowering diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish their mental health, relationship, academic, and career goals by focusing on reducing anxiety and depression to improve conflict resolution, anger management, and communication skills.

You will be supported, educated, and challenged. Initially, we’ll identify presenting and underlying issues, and together we'll develop an action plan to address those issues. We will work toward successfully implementing the plan to reach your desired goals. You are expected to keep your scheduled appointments and complete homework assignments. It's important that you work outside of sessions on tasks discussed during the session.

It’s OK to say, “I don’t want to talk about that yet.” We can continue to discuss what you're comfortable with until you’re ready to go deeper. I won’t force you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable.
