My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I have anxiety and because of it—and being a clinician for so many years—I have a lot of empathy. When I was younger, I recall asking my mom, "please, I need someone to talk to." At that time, anybody who said something like that was called crazy. Due to the stigma, I was not able to receive therapy until I became an adult.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
The initial question I ask Members during the first session is "how do you feel?" Sometimes they say they're anxious, so I just give them ample time to feel at ease and take it from there.
What I want to help you see in yourself
I want you to feel confident that you will be able to resist compulsions. I'm also very honest about the possibility of what we call a relapse—we will get back right on track.
My message to you if you're struggling right now
Celebrate every gain. I always tell Members these are baby steps. I always make sure that I find something positive to share so you can be kind to yourself.
Why our members love working with Wilda
D.F.
Wilda has been helping me along this journey with compassion and good listening to the extent that I have progressed greatly. I have way less OCD in less than 2 months and my quality of life has increased a lot. I still have a lot to do and I am confident we can get there.
