My approach to treating OCD is person-centered and evidence-based. I take time to learn about each of my members as the unique individuals they are. Seeking help is an admirable action, and it is my privilege to be working with you. This is your space to share what’s on your mind in an environment of mutual respect. In addition to OCD, I have experience treating affective and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders. I've worked with all age groups in a variety of settings.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health

I have friends and family members who've struggled with their mental health. I always like to say that nobody is immune to life struggles. Throughout my childhood and upbringing, I had a lot of physical health issues that I had to work my way through and I always took note of how different doctors or professionals made me feel. If you feel connected to somebody, you just trust them more. They see you as more than your symptoms. That really shapes the way that I work with people.

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

One of the first things I do is get to know you as a person. I welcome you and see if you have any questions, but I always just like to know who you are. I think asking questions can help to drop down some of the anxiety you might have about coming to treatment in the first place. And it recognizes that your life is so much more than what brings you to NOCD. Of course, that's important for our work together, but it's also important that, first and foremost, you're being seen as the human you are.

What I want to help you see in yourself

I want you to be confident. OCD, anxiety, and depression can really diminish your confidence in your skills, the characteristics that make you unique, and your ability to handle hard things. So, I want you to feel more confident in yourself and to know that you have what it takes to handle difficult emotions and experiences.

What I want to help you see in yourself

I want to help you realize that you don't have to avoid those situations or rely on compulsions—you already have everything that you need. We just have to tap into your innate and unique strengths to help you to see that.
