I've been working almost 20 years as a psychologist and counselor, working at the UCSD counseling center, within outpatient units, and eventually going into private practice. I did a year-long residency with Sanjay Saxena MD, an expert in OCD and representative of the International OCD Foundation, where I learned Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy. ERP is well-researched, and I think you'll find it to be quite powerful and effective.
I understand that OCD creates unwanted thoughts that can make you feel ashamed or scared to have them, let alone share them. The impact OCD has on daily life is so negative that it can ruin relationships and make you isolated from life. ERP allows me to get creative to find exposures that will help you depend less on compulsions. I'll use this powerful therapy technique to guide you away from OCD. I've dealt with a large number of OCD-related cases, so there's nothing I haven't heard before. Members say that I'm warm and easy to talk to, with a good sense of hum that can help break tension during sessions. I'm also a certified trainer for Mindful Self-Compassion workshops in San Diego. You'll find me to be a great partner as you take this journey to overcome your OCD.
