My personal connection to OCD and mental health

I started doing one-on-one therapy when I started working in a military installation in Washington. That's when it dawned on me. Throughout my years of counseling and social work, I learned that quality of life is key. That's when I learned about response prevention, which naturally enhances someone's quality of life. I've done therapy in my personal life. I think every therapist, every helping professional regardless of the industry, needs someone to talk to. Life gets heavy. Life gets hard sometimes.

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

First, I applaud you for even showing up because I know it can be hard to ask for help and talk to a complete stranger. Just you showing up and being vulnerable—I recognize that. I listen, ask questions, and I never push you to share more than you're willing, but I always keep a curiosity. I always want to know more.

What I want to help you see in yourself

I want you to see that self-determination. I want you to be okay with the choices that you make and not necessarily label things as good or bad, or right or wrong. I know that you have the strength and resilience to overcome any barriers that might get in your way.

What my Members say helps them feel comfortable with me

I like being able to tap into my sensitivity and I think that my Members notice that about me. They know that I'm always willing to learn and ask questions because I feel like people in therapy can also teach me things. I'm open to learning and receiving, and I think that's what makes me a great therapist.
