More about Dr. Wanda
My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I struggled with depression and anxiety when I was younger and grew up in a family where people had mental health and substance use disorders. Being in environments where I saw people struggling with their mental health led me to curiosity and, eventually, a desire to be part of the solution. Knowing how distressing OCD and anxiety can be, I want people to find relief and experience some level of peace in their lives.
The most rewarding part of treating OCD
Seeing people break free from rituals and regain parts of their lives they thought were lost. I've seen people do things they never thought they could-things they avoided for years. That's what makes this work so meaningful.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
I focus on acceptance and comfort, creating a safe space where you feel validated. I'll let you know that you can talk about anything, that your experience is real, and that you are not alone. Many people don't have a label for what they feel, and think they're going crazy. Learning how to connect your experiences to OCD or anxiety makes them easier to understand-it's not "you're crazy," it's "you have OCD or anxiety."
My message to you if you're struggling right now
I know it takes courage to seek help. That courage inspires me to show up for you, to be present, and to help you build the life you want. You don't have to do this alone. There are people who want to help you, and you deserve support. You are already experiencing distress every day. Therapy won't make things harder-it will teach you how to manage that distress in a way that gives you more freedom.
