As your therapist, I will be authentic, genuine, and empathetic to your experience with OCD. I know the healing journey can be arduous, but when you're done with treatment, you'll have gained confidence and tools you will be able to use anywhere. NOCD therapy will be challenging but very rewarding. I have specialties in trauma and substance use. Growing up in a rural community overrun with substance use and poverty led to significant trauma for so many people around me. I want to help people heal and recover from life's challenges.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I've had loved ones who struggle with OCD and other mental health concerns, as well as substance use. That personal connection is what's shaped my approach to therapy. Unfortunately, I've witnessed firsthand how relentless OCD and mental health can be, not just for the person experiencing it, but also for those around them. Seeing that impact gives me a deep sense of empathy and urgency in my work. I know the heartbreak, I know the frustration, and I know the hope that comes with fighting for progress.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
I think safety is more than just what you say. I think it's about how you show up. I create an environment where you know you can be brutally honest without fear of judgment. I try to normalize your experiences, validate your emotions, and remind you that you're not broken, weak or alone. I also try to bring humor into therapy, because I think OCD can feel incredibly heavy sometimes and a little bit of laughter can be a great way to remind people that they're more than just their struggles.
What makes me unique as a therapist
I grew up in a time when emotional resilience was expected, but not necessarily taught. You didn't talk about mental health, you just dealt with it. That experience gave me this profound appreciation for how difficult it can be to ask for help, especially when we've been conditioned to believe we should be able to handle things on our own. This is what I feel makes me uniquely attuned to those unspoken struggles my Members might carry.
What I want to help you see in yourself
I want you to know that you're stronger than you think. I want you to see your resilience. You can endure the discomfort - you've been doing it this entire time. I want you to know your worth and see your value. I think we're more than any diagnosis or any label, and I want you to know that. And then finally, I want you to leave with a sense of hope, hope that a better life is possible, and to know that you deserve a better life. Those are the qualities I want you to walk away from treatment with.
