Get to know Aaron Marks

Growing up, my mother struggled with bipolar disorder and OCD. The challenges of mental illness greatly impacted her quality of life and the lives of those who cared most for her. These early experiences, and my own struggles with anxiety, have influenced my desire to become a therapist and to dedicate my life to helping others overcome difficult mental health challenges.

I decided to specialize in OCD because I'm deeply passionate about helping individuals navigate the complexities of this often misunderstood condition. I know that finding effective treatments can be challenging, and after learning about ERP and its and how highly effective it is in treating OCD, I knew that this was the path for me.

I have expertise and comfort working with anxiety disorders, PTSD/trauma, addiction, and grief. Before taking on my current role with NOCD, I completed a two-year post-grad residency as a primary psychotherapist for US Veterans with PTSD and related mood disorders. Before that, I spent three years as a clinical counselor/social worker providing counseling for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns. Before completing my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, I worked as a patient advocate for a large hospital in the Pacific Northwest.
