Facing our fears isn't easy for anyone, but the rewards can be incredible. I love seeing people open themself up to new possibilities in life, and I love working with the treatment for OCD, because it's highly effective. My approach to treating OCD is meeting each member where they are. I will work alongside you, providing encouragement. In addition to OCD, I focus on depression, autism spectrum disorder, codependency, domestic violence, and substance use.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I had symptoms of OCD when I was a child that started after I had a virus. They became very debilitating. It was very difficult for a lot of healthcare providers to understand my symptoms, which made it very hard to get the correct treatment. It impacted my education, my relationships, and the trust that I had in my own perception. I tried a lot of different treatments, but I found that ERP was the most effective.
What my Members say helps them feel comfortable with me
Listening to your full story is really important to me. I want to be present with you and really honor your struggle. I also like to honor whatever type of adversity you've experienced in combination with your symptoms, whether that's trauma, a disability, or family dynamics that make it difficult. I incorporate your values and cultural perspectives into your treatment, too.
My message to you if you're struggling right now
A lot of people come in with a lot of shame around their symptoms—especially if they've spent years suffering in isolation. I would like to encourage you not to have that be a barrier to getting help.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
I absolutely draw from my personal experience. I have a lot of compassion, especially for more vulnerable populations, like children who have a difficult time articulating their thoughts and emotions, and don't always get access to treatment that validates their confusion and feeling of helplessness.

Melissa is so wonderful. My daughter feels like she is a “friend”. Every time she gets off the call, my daughter says “I really like Melissa. She is so nice, Mom.” Says it every time :) My daughter just turned 10.
