About

Treating OCD is a challenging task. You’re dealing with intrusive thoughts, compulsions, or intense fears. It’s really hard to admit that this is what you’re experiencing, and that’s OK. Treating OCD is like a ladder. We’ll take each session together and learn how to manage your tolerance. We'll start small and gradually make our way up to more intense feelings. We’re going to work together to be able to build your skills each week in order to give you the best possible outcome and learn to handle whatever you’re struggling with. I’m very passionate and excited that we’re going to go through this journey together a step at a time. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and traveling, especially anywhere with water.

Get to know Lindsay Savage

I have a drive to help people, to be a part of someone’s success story, no matter how big or small. I’m always the friend who assumes the “mom” role, the one everyone confides in for support. I knew I always wanted to work with children but wasn’t sure which avenue to pursue in college. After I explored a few other potential careers, social work and therapy fell into my lap. I knew I wanted to make a lasting impact, but it wasn’t until I found social work and therapy that I discovered how. Being a therapist allows me to help others while being a part of their growth and healing journey.

In my abnormal psychology class in college, my professor taught us about OCD and shared his personal OCD story with us. That stuck with me for years. OCD is such a unique diagnosis. We all have our own compulsions and fears, but OCD causes these to become consuming. I want to help make those compulsions and fears manageable.

In my last therapist role, I worked primarily with children and adolescents. I worked a lot with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I also became trauma trained (TF-CBT) and worked often with trauma cases. I also worked with families, both directly and indirectly.

NOCD truly has your back. We want you to be able to live your life while managing your OCD. You're taking a huge first step by enrolling in therapy, and we're all so proud of you for that. Therapy isn’t going to change everything overnight. It will take time and a lot of hard work, but if you’re willing to do that work, it can be life-changing. Consider each session a stepping stone to becoming a better-functioning you.

It’s OK to be afraid. Having challenging and distressing thoughts can be nerve-wracking. I will never make you share anything you don’t want to share. But the more honest you are with me, the more progress we can make. I’m here to support you on this journey. The more I know, the better I can help.
