About

I take a behavioral approach to treating OCD. I love to see people gain insight into themselves, and why they think and behave the way they do. NOCD specializes in OCD treatment and is one of the premier agencies to treat this condition. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy has been shown to be particularly effective for those suffering with OCD. In addition to treating OCD, I specialize in depression, anxiety, marital issues, stress, family relational issues, and LGBTQ+ issues.

I've been ruminating lately about relationship loss. Let me see if I can recall---first, I need to recognize that I'm doing it.second, I need to realize that rumination isn't serving me. It's feeding the OCD. Then, I need to redirect to a value driven activity but make sure that I am not being distracted. I can sit with the discomfort. RRRD for fighting OCD rumination. Then, CBT to attack my cognitive distortions regarding my fears and future relationships. Recognize those distorted thoughts. Counter them or examine the evidence. It went well. Pamela is such a wealth of information.

Pamela helped me learn that I can take charge of my thoughts by recognizing my cognitive distortions. I received some horrible news today, but I can think about things in a different way. The day became a manageable challenge versus spending the day filled with dread while solving nothing. I got my glow back.

This therapist is very observant and inquisitive. She can detect changes in emotion and facial expression and seems to always know what's going on. She understands that life happens too. She's encouraging, but likes to get right down to the business of tackling OCD head on. I'm very grateful to have her in my life as I continue this journey.
