Get to know Uvoltta Francis

I enjoy working with people and helping people reach their mental health goals.

When I was starting out as a therapist, I would intentionally avoid this population because I didn't understand the disorder. I realized there is a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about OCD. I wanted to learn more and provide support.

I specialize in kink, people in or exploring poly/open relationships, and sex positivity, in addition to anxiety and depression. I've always taken an interest in working with what many consider taboo. Everyone needs a safe place to open up, and I provide that.

ERP therapy gradually exposes people to situations designed to provoke a person’s obsessions in a safe environment. ERP doesn't completely remove distressing situations and thoughts. It provides a person with coping skills for when a triggering situation presents itself, allowing them to then use the skills to prevent their compulsion from taking over.

If you have a fear of judgment or worry about sharing your thoughts, it may be helpful to think about this process as the start of your journey. Your therapist is taking a non-judgmental approach to therapy, and you can rest assured you're being listened to and respected. Come as you are.

NOCD therapists are trained by our world-renowned clinical leadership team.
