About

Here at NOCD, we use an approach called Exposure and Response Prevention, or ERP. It's a remarkable treatment modality and is considered the gold standard for OCD treatment. We will take a collaborative approach to therapy. Together, we will create a hierarchy of fears and work our way through it. Eventually, we'll get to the top, where we'll combat some of your greatest challenges with OCD. There is no timeline for this, and I'll be with you throughout the whole process. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a one-year-old daughter, so we're always on the go and trying new things. We love doing outdoorsy activities such as going for hikes, swimming, and walking my two pit bulls. I’m also a fan of reality TV, and I make sure never to miss a Philadelphia Eagles game!

Get to know Kristen Skrapits

I wanted to become a therapist because I've always enjoyed helping others. Whether it was volunteering with special needs students in high school or working in assisted living with the senior population, I quickly realized my career would involve helping others in some capacity. This led to the realization that working as a therapist would be the perfect fit for me and my career goals.

I chose to specialize in OCD because I've seen the struggles people with this diagnosis go through, and the limited resources available to them. In my time doing talk therapy, it was difficult to find a consistent modality that helped reduce symptoms in clients struggling with OCD. That led me to do some research and discover ERP.

In addition to OCD, I have experience working with people who have trauma and abuse histories, PTSD, major depressive disorder, anxiety, and family relationships and dysfunction, just to name a few.

Although engaging in NOCD Therapy may be more challenging than some other types of therapy, the benefits are immeasurable if you stick with it.

I certainly understand that sitting with a stranger and divulging personal details often isn't easy. Please know I’m here with you throughout this treatment. I can ensure that I'll offer you a nonjudgmental and safe space to disclose anything relevant to your treatment.
