About

In treating OCD, I utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which aims to decrease one’s experience of obsessions and compulsions by increasing their ability to tolerate discomfort and uncertainty in daily life. I love getting the opportunity to connect with individuals and begin to understand the intricacies of their inner worlds. I also enjoy the rewarding nature of this work and seeing people’s progress and increased enjoyment in life. Outside of work, I'm a water lover who frequents the beach, lake, and pool. I believe discovering new music can be a spiritual experience. I'm an avid concert goer and cherish live music.

Get to know Maggie Denison

Growing up, I was fascinated by the mind and spent time connecting with other human beings. I have personally struggled with mental illness throughout my life and have seen how devastating it can be within families. Throughout my own treatment, I've encountered many caring therapists who've aided in my recovery. I hope I can pay forward the support I received and use my experience as an empathetic superpower. I am passionate about providing a safe space for others to share and work through their pain.

OCD is an incredibly overlooked and misdiagnosed disorder. I have friends and family who suffer from OCD, and I've seen firsthand how debilitating it can be.

I focus on treating anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, LGBTQIA+-related issues, perfectionism, and life transitions. I've personally experienced struggle in many of these areas, and I'm passionate about decreasing the stigma surrounding mental illness. I believe suffering is part of human existence, but how we choose to respond to our hardships can greatly affect our quality of life.

My ultimate goal is to support you during the challenging yet rewarding process you're about to embark on. This is a collaborative process, and I invite you to share your thoughts, opinions, and fears with me along the way.

I want you to know that although I don't know your exact experience, I have immense empathy for the courage it takes to open up to a therapist. Give yourself self-compassion and grace as you navigate this process, and know that I'm not here to judge you in any way. We will go on this journey together.
