Megan Ocando

Licensed Therapist, LMHC, LPC

My approach to treating OCD is to be your advocate. I want you to feel comfortable with me in our sessions, so you can feel comfortable doing ERP. I will never see you in a negative light, nor will I judge you, even with the stories you share that may cause you to feel alone and bad about yourself. When I'm not doing therapy, I enjoy going to the gym and reading mysteries and psychological thrillers. I also enjoy hanging out with my husband, our kids, and our youngest daughter's service dog.

Get to know Megan Ocando

I've been interested in psychology since I was a child, especially how the mind works. What motivates our thoughts and behaviors, and what about our personalities? I saw how important it was to be a therapist and how it helped people, no matter their age. The impact can be life-altering. From that moment on, I wanted to help people find the strength they had difficulty seeing but I knew they had.

I have always been intrigued by OCD. As I was in grad school learning about all the different diagnoses, I saw that OCD was in a field of its own. I personally found out exactly how debilitating this diagnosis could be—my husband suffers from severe OCD, and although I couldn’t be his therapist, I saw how this affected him and how much help he needed. I want to help individuals who are suffering and give them the tools to enjoy the life they deserve.

My clinical background is in substance abuse, including extensive training in trauma. I enjoy researching how the brain works, especially when trauma is involved, including how addiction affects the brain.

The therapists at NOCD have been thoroughly trained in OCD. We implement ERP to help members manage their OCD and live the life they deserve.

That is completely normal. Those are your feelings, and you and I are just starting to build rapport. I'm here to help. I will never judge you—even if you're judging your own negative and intrusive thoughts. My goal is to give you the tools to reduce your OCD symptoms. Being honest with me and sharing as much information as possible is only going to help you kick OCD’s butt. We are a team, and our goal is the same: To help you live your best life with as few OCD symptoms as possible.

NOCD therapists are trained by our world-renowned clinical leadership team.

I started with Megan at the end of last October. I began fairly sceptical as I had worked with a number of therapists who just made me feel overall worse. For the past 4 years, I lost sight of a lot of things that made me the person I am. Thanks to Megan, I feel like the best version of myself that I have been for a very long time. She has guided me in a direction in which I have understood things about myself that I would have never seen before. She has changed my life. Amazing therapist!!

We recently switched to have Megan as the therapist for my 13 year old son! She is awesome! She has found a way to connect with my son and build trust. She has given us more understanding about OCD, how it works, and how to fight back. She has really fine tuned our ERP to make it even more productive. I’m so glad we found such a caring and competent therapist!

Absolutely the best experience ive ever had reaching out for help, especially considering the scope and range of my issues. Megan is superb in every way you could ask for from a therapist. Megan is very easy to talk to and sincerely cares about creating the best plan possible for to help me reach my goals regarding much more than OCD but all the other areas in my life that I needed help with. I feel confident that ive been set on the path to a better quality of life and i feel confident in a brighter future.

I can’t even begin to express my satisfaction with the therapist I was reffered to. Megan Ocando had an amazing talent for engaging patients in a way that feels genuine, all while quickly hitting the important points and covering all the bases necessary for the purpose of our session. Very understanding, professional, and compassionate. I’m happy to be paired with such a skilled therapist and I am excited to have someone whom I trust to be able to help me with this struggle that I’ve endured by myself but have at this time in my live lost the ability to do so.
