My approach to treating OCD begins with full transparency, ensuring you understand that the process will have its ups and downs, but that I'll be with you every step of the way. I'll encourage you to write down a goal you can refer to on challenging days. Treatment is a collaborative effort, and empowerment is a key element of my approach. I believe in helping members feel capable and confident in managing their OCD. My other focus areas include depression, anxiety disorders, and women's self-esteem/life transitions.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I have generalized anxiety. I was diagnosed almost two years ago. I think I grew up an anxious kid, but my parents didn't have the tools or know what to look for. Because of the experiences I've had, I think I see things through a lens of true understanding and empathy. I know what it's like to have a sticky thought that feels very real. It feels very intense, like you need to do something about it. I like telling people, "I'm not telling you to ignore those thoughts. I'm telling you that you can handle them." And I've had to tell myself that often, too-that I can handle those scary situations.
The most rewarding part of treating OCD
It's beautiful to see progress happening faster than what you may see in other types of therapy. That's been really rewarding. Someone told me that it felt so good to not be looked at as a horrible person. When people say, "You gave me my life back," that is intense for my brain. I always bring it back to them: "You did the work. You showed up every session." I always tell people, "Thank you for showing up for you."
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
I bring humor with me everywhere, including therapy. Art has been my way of expression and getting out of my shell, so I use a lot of it in my therapy sessions, too. Sometimes, instead of using words, we'll use some form of creative expression, because sometimes people don't have the words to say what's going on.
What my Members say helps them feel comfortable with me
That I'm personable. They value how I really care about things like what their weekend was like or the things that they conquered in the past week. I think people feel that I'm down to earth, and therapy with me is like talking to someone you've known before. And I'm okay with vulnerability.

I cannot thank NOCD, specifically Roshunda, enough for how much it has changed my life. At times I’ve felt completely beyond help and like I’ve been too far gone, past the point of no return, but Roshunda has pulled me from those dark moments & restored me to myself again. I cannot put into words how grateful I am & proud of myself for going on this journey. I could not have wished for a better therapist to be there with me & guide me in the right direction. I will truly miss our sessions, I felt totally comfortable and able to say whatever.
J.D.
Always feel comfortable talking to Roshunda, I feel heard and she helps me believe I can overcome this.
