Megan Belich

Licensed Therapist, LCSW

I approach OCD with the understanding that it has the power to distort everything you love. That understanding motivates me to help members reclaim what they love most. Some fun facts about me: I worked for Starbucks for 11 years before becoming a therapist; my undergraduate degree is in aviation science; I once drove cross country by myself; I played roller derby for seven years; and I love Star Wars.

Get to know Megan Belich

In graduate school, the first advice I received was if you want to be a therapist you need to know what it's like to be on the other side of the chair. That's how I started my journey to becoming a therapist. In undergoing therapy myself, I learned how anxiety-provoking it was to open up to a complete stranger. I take that experience into every session as a reminder of what a member might be feeling.

My journey both professionally and personally is about learning and being open to trying new things. I had obtained the basic knowledge of OCD but I wanted to learn more. I discovered how much of a beast OCD is, and I love a challenge.

I have found myself in a variety of settings, from the Department of Social Services to community mental health and outpatient therapy. Through those experiences I've gained knowledge of trauma, addiction, and crisis management. In my outpatient experience, I focused on internal family systems therapy, CBT, ACT, and DBT.

I will be your ally and guide as you work through your OCD. This is a partnership, and we work together.

I understand. OCD takes over our thoughts, causing shame and fear to control us. Saying those thoughts out loud can ease the power they may have on you.

During my last session, Megan helped me make a huge revelation about the root theme of my obsessions/core fears and how my various obsessive thoughts that seemed unrelated are, in reality, connected. As cliche as it sounds, I felt like a lightbulb was turned on in my head. Knowing this now helps me know the best way to respond to my OCD. I am so grateful for her insight.

Megan is fantastic. She is very insightful and has helped me connect dots that are helping me understand how my OCD likes to operate. Armed with this knowledge, I am able to come up with effective ways to shut down my OCD’s negative voice. This is the first time in years that I’m going into the holidays feeling like I’m the one in control and not OCD. It feels wonderful.
