Licensed Therapist, LCSW-R

About

I'm an empathetic therapist who has compassion for each person’s experience. I also take a practical stance and reiterate how you can help yourself. I am there to guide and encourage. The mix of compassion and accountability is a helpful approach in treating OCD. When I'm not doing therapy, I love attending concerts as much as possible. Dancing and listening to live music (especially from the '80s and '90s) energize me. I also love taking walks in nature—I'm an avid bird watcher, and exercising outside just feels better.

The sooner you give someone therapeutic tools, the more relief they feel. OCD treatment via exposure response prevention therapy (ERP) provides that.

Get to know Angela Knoeller

I have always been interested in human behavior. Even as a kid, I would ask people why they did things and how they felt. As I got older, my friends and peers sought me out to talk. Often I was told, “You’re a good listener.” I wanted to help people feel better about life circumstances and learn to do so in a professional way.

I’ve been working in the mental health field for 23 years. Mostly, I focused on cognitive behavioral therapy. Within the last two years, I started feeling like something more could benefit the people I was working with. I noticed that the sooner you give someone therapeutic tools, the more relief they feel and, in turn, are more motivated to learn about improving quality of life. OCD treatment via exposure response prevention therapy (ERP) provides that. I decided to hone my clinical skills and specialize in OCD.

I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy with a varied population. I also focus on mindfulness and different aspects of spirituality, if it helps in treatment. Understanding how your thoughts affect emotions, and therefore actions, is essential to create positive change. Teaching someone this skill, then witnessing progress and relief, is an honor.

You should know that there are multiple resources available in addition to my individual therapy. You will receive quality care and expect to feel relief sooner rather than later. Most importantly, you will develop skills to help yourself and enjoy life.

You should try to share this fear, as it is part of healing. In doing so, you'll realize you're not alone in experiencing these symptoms. Being transparent will improve your progress. There is no judgment, and you can speak freely to your therapist as well as other staff at NOCD.

NOCD therapists are trained by our world-renowned clinical leadership team.

Angela is a good listener and supports me in working on my exercises to help fight the combustion. She reminds me each time OCD is hard but the combustions are harder. That phrase sticks with me when my OCD is driving me nuts. Thanks, Angela for all your help in my journey to overcome OCD. (containment)

She listens what you have to say. That’s important. It’s comforting to have someone to listen and understand. To focus on key areas where it is struggle for me to deal with OCD. This was my second session. I feel that I made the right choice to seek help. This might be a start to a better life and not let OCD control it.
