Obsessive compulsive disorder - OCD treatment and therapy from NOCD
OCD therapist Ashly Huffstatler, Licensed Therapist, LCSW, Licensed OCD Therapist

Ashly Huffstatler

Licensed Therapist, LCSW

My approach to treating OCD is 'Members first.' You are the expert on your OCD. We will work as partners in treatment. I will help guide, but you are in charge. My style is direct and compassionate. Outside of work, I love all things Disney, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Harry Potter. I am an avid reader and a big animal lover: I have a cocker spaniel named Kyle. I enjoy doing yoga and at-home boxing. I also enjoy traveling and trying new experiences, even when they make me nervous. I'm living the ERP life, just like you!

OCD therapy can be scary at first. Your OCD may try to stop you, because it doesn't want you to get better. Let’s face your fear together, and put you back in the driver’s seat of your own mind.

Get to know Ashly Huffstatler

I decided to become a therapist because I believe it's important for everyone to have a healthy and happy life, and for that to happen, good mental health is crucial. I struggled with anxiety and social anxiety as a child that caused difficulties growing up and had a big impact on my life. Mental health has been too long ignored, denied, and neglected.

When I became aware of the prevalence and debilitating nature of OCD, I wanted to help those who are trying their hardest to cope with this disorder. I wanted to join in with this amazing community to help people live their best lives.

I have worked in several areas over the years. I have experience working with children struggling with mental health and behavior concerns. I have knowledge and experience in regards to depression, anxiety, and trauma. I went into these areas since these disorders can be debilitating and cause daily living to be a struggle. Having lived through some of this myself, I want to give back and help others. I want others to feel empowered to live beyond and thrive, despite what the world has thrown at them.

Starting NOCD may look intimidating, but you will be working with your NOCD therapist the whole time and planning therapy together. You will have access to messaging your therapist on days that you may need a little extra help, exercises to help guide your journey, and a wonderful community to help support you.

If at any point you feel anxious or even scared about telling me something, that is totally normal. We all struggle with opening up to someone, myself included. If it takes some time for you to start trusting me, that's OK. This is truly a judgment-free zone, nothing you say will shock me, even if the OCD is trying to tell you otherwise.

NOCD therapists are trained by our world-renowned clinical leadership team.

I'm really pleased with the format of ERP in our sessions. I appreciate that my therapist has realistic expectations. She uses concrete methods that feel measurable and satisfying. If I do a good job I can actually tell during our session.

So grateful for Ashly’s compassionate wisdom and at the same time firm guidance

Ashly was the best therapist I’ve worked with. I had to transfer therapists because I moved to a different country, which was really difficult because I finally found a therapist I felt comfortable with. She is compassionate and understanding, but always pushes you to do your best and do the things that make you uncomfortable. When I started therapy 2 months ago, I never thought that my symptoms would decrease as much as they did. I am so thankful that I got to work with Ashly, she really helped me understand my OCD and provide me with the tools to manage on my own. I’m sad I can’t continue to work with her, but I am eternally grateful for her approach, her kindness, and her dedication to helping conquer OCD. Thank you Ashly, for changing my view of therapy.

I'm still new to NOCD & just getting started with ERP but so far working with my trained therapist has been valuable. Before finding NOCD I was so scared to share my struggles because I was afraid what would happen to me if someone didnt understand, but I also knew I couldn't fight this on my own anymore so I felt trapped. My first session I felt seen, heard and was met with compassion & understanding. I never felt judged and now have someone on my side who understands and can help me through this.
