Therapy is a journey. It's my privilege to walk with people and help them get to where they want to go. This is a partnership. You lead our sessions, and I work as a guide. You are your own best expert on your life. I know how debilitating OCD and anxiety can be. Being able to help people improve their quality of life is really important to me. The goal is progress, not perfection. Beyond OCD, I specialize in depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, and caregiving issues.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I've been a chronic nail biter my entire life, and had no idea that that was a BFRB, or that it was related to OCD at all. When I got this job, I realized I'm going to be treating people who do the same thing I do. I also have a long history of depression. It runs in my family, and so does anxiety. I also have a nephew with OCD, so it's present in my life on a personal level.
How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy
For me, therapy has always been like a journey. But instead of me being the expert and dragging you along, we're walking side by side, because you're always the best expert on what's going to work for you. I'm the guide. We're in it together. I can point you in the right direction, but you have to tell me if you're comfortable taking that step.
What I want to help you see in yourself
Your confidence. I don't think people realize how much OCD takes away somebody's confidence. They can feel like they're so locked up with their OCD that they don't see a way out. They don't think they can do it. When somebody starts from that place and slowly learns that they can do it and they are strong enough, that gives them the confidence to keep going and to face the harder things.
My message to you if you're struggling right now
Get evaluated. Meet us, whether it's me or another NOCD Therapist. Understand that we're here because we want to be. We're here because we love this. We love working with people with OCD. Yes, therapy can be hard sometimes, but your hard work is going to pay off. When the times get tough, when it becomes overwhelming, I have enough encouragement and enough belief in you for both of us. Life is too short to not live the way you want to live it. We can help you live that life. You just have to just be okay to start.

I have had a wonderful experience with my therapist Cathy! NOCD has been life changing for me. After years of regular therapy, I found NOCD from hearing about it on a podcast. Their process in finding a therapist that fits your needs & also being able to take different insurances made it easy to take the first steps. Once I got started with Cathy I found myself realizing a lot of the things I thought were just quirks or me being “anxious” or “too hard on myself”, were actually OCD obsessions & compulsions. The more I faced them & also learned about them, gave the knowledge and tactics to take them on & change my behaviors. I feel like a totally new person, and I feel like I actually have my life back. I want more people to know about NOCD & how helpful the services can be!

NOCD, Cathy, alongside my other interventions (my talk therapist, medication, etc) have truly changed my life. I’m so thankful and recommend NOCD to everyone. I want to do a story about how it’s changing the lives of many of my family members. It’s had a ripple effect and I’m forever grateful. 🥲

I am so grateful for Catherine Nakonetschny. Her ability to lead a session with compassion, care, and concern creates an environment where I feel safe and valued. Her ability to listen, encourage, and inspire me makes a huge difference in my life. She has changed my life for the better. My quality of life has been elevated and my experiences have been richer and more fulfilling, thanks to Catherine and the Nocd platform. I am doing and enjoying things I was scared to do when I started. I like the person I am much better and feel a sense of wholeness learning and knowing that my OCD does not need to define me. If I can do it, anyone reading this can transform their life for the better! I promise, ERP works. Thank you Catherine and OCD for helping free me to live a more satisfying life!

Cathy is amazing! She is so great at relating to my son (9 years old) and making therapy feel less boring for him. His OCD scores are down 75% from where we started! Cathy is warm, personable, knowledgeable, and helpful. We are lucky to have her!

Cathy is an amazing therapist. Because of her and the work we have done, my OCD symptoms have SIGNIFICANTLY decreased and my quality of life has drastically IMPROVED. I couldn’t be more grateful for her. I leave with a smile on my face after every session we have, feeling like I can conquer even my biggest fears :)

Working with Catherine has been one of the most important things I've ever done in my life. She has been so kind, patient, and encouraging throughout my journey. When I started treatment I never thought I could return to a normal life. I was so scared, but Cathy stuck with me and pushed me to keep going. At first the thought of exposure therapy terrified me and I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it. Thanks to Cathy's calm, kind, and lighthearted style I stuck through that initial fear and now I'm back on track with my life. I truly cannot thank her enough.

Cathy is easily the most wonderful therapist I’ve ever had in my life. I’m 23 years old now, and have been in all different forms of therapy with countless different therapists since I was 6. That’s almost 20 years of bouncing around, trying to find a good fit! And from the first day I started with Cathy, the chemistry was instant. I immediately felt the passion, drive, and care she had for not only me, but mine and my family’s life. She is truly one of a kind, and I cannot recommend her enough. If you’re living in a state that she offers service for, please look no further. There’s no other therapist like her!!!

NOCD is helping me regain freedoms in the many areas of my life that were stunted by intrusive thoughts. I have had the pleasure of working with Catherine Nakonetschny and Dr. Nick Farrell. It's a blessing having knowledgeable practitioners to help me make tremendous progress in conquering certain fear based thoughts. I feel like I am becoming a new person and the sense of hope and peace of mind that comes with joining NOCD is paramount. OCD is still so highly misunderstood and it's a relief to finally find people who truly understand the angst and frustration it brings. Their passion and dedication to helping people recover and live their best lives is a true testament to the wonderful help NOCD provides.

I loved how my therapist was able to relate her own struggles that are similar to mine into our session, and it made me feel more seen and that I wasn’t alone. It also made me feel comfortable to know that someone who has had similar experiences to me is more understanding of my situation and more than willing to help.
