About

For me, therapy is a journey. It's my privilege to walk with people and help them get to where they want to go. To me, this is a partnership. I don't lead my sessions. You lead our sessions, and I work as a guide. You are your own best expert on your life. When I'm not doing therapy, I have a lot of hobbies. I love to crochet, and I am an avid Winnie the Pooh fan.

Any kind of therapy is a process. This is not a sprint, it's usually a marathon, and there are going to be periods of setbacks. And that's OK. That's why we do this together. My focus is on progress, not perfection.

My grandmother had Alzheimer's disease. I grew up seeing what it was like for someone who had a pretty significant disability and the lack of support family members had at that time. I wanted to provide support to people who were struggling with the different phases of their life. I first went into psychology, then got a master's in social work. I've been working in the field for more than 25 years.

Some of my family members have anxiety and probably OCD themselves. I like being able to help people get through the really hard challenges in life. For me, the goal is to improve quality of life. I know how debilitating anxiety and OCD can be. Being able to help people improve that part of their lives is really, really important to me. I love watching people make progress. It is a beautiful thing when someone who's been struggling their whole lives with an issue experiences that moment when something clicks, and it's almost like a weight gets lifted off their shoulders.

Depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, and caregiving issues. I also have some experience in LGBTQ+ issues and people with more serious chronic mental illness such as schizoaffective and schizophrenia.

Any kind of therapy is a process. This is not a sprint, it's usually a marathon, and there are going to be periods of setbacks. And that's OK. That's why we do this together. Nobody's perfect. My focus is really on progress, not perfection. We're looking to move ahead, no matter how incremental it may be. As long as you're moving toward your goal, it's perfect in my book.

Being afraid is normal, and it's OK. I think that if you're not afraid to share, especially in initial sessions, you're not doing it right. We're delving into some deep issues, and at first, I'm still a stranger. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship and become a support system that will help you get better. I will support you and make sure that you become more and more comfortable, so you can share and we reach your goals.

Cathy is easily the most wonderful therapist I’ve ever had in my life. I’m 23 years old now, and have been in all different forms of therapy with countless different therapists since I was 6. That’s almost 20 years of bouncing around, trying to find a good fit! And from the first day I started with Cathy, the chemistry was instant. I immediately felt the passion, drive, and care she had for not only me, but mine and my family’s life. She is truly one of a kind, and I cannot recommend her enough. If you’re living in a state that she offers service for, please look no further. There’s no other therapist like her!!!

NOCD is helping me regain freedoms in the many areas of my life that were stunted by intrusive thoughts. I have had the pleasure of working with Catherine Nakonetschny and Dr. Nick Farrell. It's a blessing having knowledgeable practitioners to help me make tremendous progress in conquering certain fear based thoughts. I feel like I am becoming a new person and the sense of hope and peace of mind that comes with joining NOCD is paramount. OCD is still so highly misunderstood and it's a relief to finally find people who truly understand the angst and frustration it brings. Their passion and dedication to helping people recover and live their best lives is a true testament to the wonderful help NOCD provides.

I loved how my therapist was able to relate her own struggles that are similar to mine into our session, and it made me feel more seen and that I wasn’t alone. It also made me feel comfortable to know that someone who has had similar experiences to me is more understanding of my situation and more than willing to help.
