I take a member-first approach to OCD therapy. ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) is a very different form of therapy, but it is the gold standard in treating OCD. We will go at whatever pace you feel comfortable with. The most gratifying part of my job is seeing members progress; I enjoy helping people achieve goals they've set for themselves. Beyond OCD, I have experience working with couples and families. I like helping people improve their relationships and feel a stronger connection.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health
I struggle with OCD myself, and by doing therapy and getting well-versed in it, I've learned more about how it affects me. I've also struggled with ADHD since I was a kid and worked on learning tools and strategies through my own therapy, as well as family therapy with my mom growing up.
Why my Members say they feel comfortable with me
I had a Member share with me that this was the first time that they ever truly felt like someone understood their OCD and overall mental health. Allowing people a safe space to feel understood, heard, and supported is something that I strive for, so when you hear from someone that it actually happened, it's definitely rewarding.
What I want to help you realize
I know a lot of people really struggle with getting stuck in the OCD framework of their mind and thinking that OCD defines them to an extent. I really work to get people outside of themselves and separate OCD from who they are, because a mental health diagnosis, a disability, or anything else you're experiencing doesn't define you as a person.
How I make therapy a safe and supportive space
I put you first, and really allow time for you to get comfortable. That's something that I had as a kid growing up in therapy, so I had a really good understanding of how things would look moving forward for myself if I became a therapist. Therapists also struggle with our mental health, so I'll talk about my experiences to let you know that, "Hey, I struggle too, and other people struggle as well."

Amanda is great and helps me to maintain my progress with OCD. She treats me well and helps me feel normal which is hard with OCD.

Amanda is great and is not judgmental. She always brings things to a complete perspective rather than where I focus most. She has helped me to see OCD and to better understand it. I am still learning to deal with it and have a long way to go. I have made progress and am so grateful to Amanda for it. I can not say enough about how good she is because every time I feel overwhelmed or that I have made a terrible mistake, Amanda always shows me the bigger picture.

Amanda is great and helps me to work through ocd as well as difficult family dynamics. I feel heard which is important to me because I am mostly ignored by my family. It was great to talk to her as I am in a happier mood.

Amanda is very patient with me and really listens to what is going on. She makes very helpful suggestions which have helped me to manage some of my obsessions. I am still struggling with OCD however, it is the fault of excess stress. She has helped me to realize that I need to not overwhelm myself.

Amanda is great because she helps me to work through ocd as well as to understand other symptoms of ocd. She has gotten me to lean into the uncertainty which aids in dealing with ocd thoughts.

Amanda is amazing.. She has been working with my 10 year old son. My son is very stubborn and strong minded. Amanda has consistently shown patience and understanding. She meets him where he is at in every session. She has a gift for working with children. I highly, highly recommend her.

Always allows me get out what I need to say and helps me remain rational about what is going on. Breaks things down for me to fully understand and yet not feel silly for asking for a break down. Also has taught me so many tricks to help me and I’ve learned so much about myself.

I have seen many OCD therapists in the past who were passionate about my OCD dx. However, I just started with NOCD the last two weeks and finally feel as though my therapist understands the type of symptoms I am experiencing. I have been very discouraged over the past few years but am hopeful with NOCD as they specialize in my unique pattern of thinking!
