Experience in treating OCD: Dr Swedo is internationally recognized for her clinical research on post-infectious autoimmune disorders, such as PANDAS and Sydenham chorea. Trained as a pediatrician, Dr. Swedo completed a research fellowship in the NIMH Child Psychiatry branch, writing some of the seminal articles on medical treatment of OCD, trichotillomania and other disorders. After receiving scientific tenure in 1992, Dr. Swedo established an independent research program specializing in OCD, movement disorders, autism and immune-mediated neuropsychiatric disorders. While at NIMH, Dr. Swedo evaluated and treated hundreds of youth and their families. Her multi-disciplinary consultative practice now makes this expertise available in the private sector.
