Experience in treating OCD: Dr. Shuman is a licensed psychologist with more than a decade of experience treating OCD and related conditions. In addition to doctoral level education and training in psychotherapy, Dr. Shuman is a graduate of the IOCDF training program for behavioral therapy for OCD, and engages with regular consultation with IOCDF faculty. Dr. Shuman is the clinical director of a group therapy practice with about 25 clinicians and is responsible for training junior therapists in the assessment and treatment of OCD. He teaches a seminar in OCD treatment open to the public, and provides consultation across the country on neurodiversity affirming OCD care as well a effective strategies to treat OCD in autistic clients. Dr. Shuman uses ERP as a first line intervention for treatment of OCD, but also offers ICBT for clients who have reason to deviate from the gold standard approach of ERP.
