I take a structured yet highly individualized and collaborative approach to treating OCD. OCD can take itself too seriously, so I use humor and irreverence as much as possible. I view individuals through a "person-in-environment" lens, meaning I don't see a person with OCD in isolation. I consider how OCD impacts various areas of a person's life, and vice versa. I enjoy working with parents and caregivers, which is an integral part of working with children and youth with OCD. My other focus areas include ADHD/ASD and LGBTQ+ issues.

My personal connection to OCD and mental health

I have experience with OCD, and did ERP therapy myself, and that really influenced my desire to do this work. I have a lot of empathy and understand the distress that OCD causes and what it can take away. I feel very motivated to help people feel empowered to get their lives back and to feel like they can do the things that OCD makes them think they can't do.

How I create a safe, supportive environment in therapy

I'm very open, very transparent. If you want to ask questions about my experience, I let you, and I'm not afraid to be very real. I've shared examples from my own life of things that people are sometimes really nervous to talk about, and Members have told me it's super helpful. I'm also constantly using humor with my Members. I laugh every day with them.

What I want to bring out in you

Confidence, a sense of ease, and an ability to go about life with less urgency. I've witnessed it be so freeing for Members to be able to give themselves permission to not think about everything and not feel responsible for everything that's going on around them.

My message to you if you're struggling right now

Take a chance. It can seem scary, taking the step to start treatment. But you can be in the driver's seat of it, and you can always pivot if it's not working out. Just taking one step in the direction that you want to be going is huge. And if you take a lot of first steps, it'll make a huge difference in how you feel.
