My journey into becoming a therapist that uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy to treat OCD has evolved over the past 10 years. I’ve held a private practice treating various challenges that include depression, ADHD, and OCD. The great thing about ERP is that I get to see people I treat outgrow me, to the point where they’ve become confident in their abilities to manage their OCD and no longer need my help. That’s my goal for you.
OCD takes away your power to live the way you want, go where you want, and be with who you want to be with. It traps you into a cage of isolation, sometimes making you spend hours relieving the anxiety that it’s causing. It’s not kind to you, but to overcome it, you must face it head-on. Wherever experiences you’re having, it will not shock me; I’ve heard it all before. I will not judge you. I’m only here to help you. Your OCD is a serious matter, but along with that comes tension. During our sessions, I’ll use a bit of humor to break that tension. This approach helps to make you feel more comfortable, so we can get to work and be successful during your sessions. I know you can overcome your OCD. It’s something we can do together.
