I’ve spent the past several years of private practice treating people with anxiety issues, including OCD symptoms. Still, my experience with OCD and anxiety goes beyond my professional work. Family tragedies spurred my interest to help people, while I’ve dealt with OCD on a more personal level. As a therapist specializing in OCD, understand what you’re going through and how to treat it. In sessions, I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy because it’s proven to work for all OCD subtypes.
OCD creates unwanted thoughts pulled from what you love the most in life. These thoughts can make you feel ashamed while putting you in a state of fear over the idea that you may go through with them. It’s vital to understand that OCD thoughts are not intentions on what you want to do, nor are they reflections of who you are. So how do you get to a point where unwanted OCD thoughts lose their power over you? By doing ERP exercises. I’m a therapist that uses a straight-forward approach during treatment. You’ll also find me empathetic. My spouse has struggled with OCD, making me more aware of how OCD can affect a person’s life. Having OCD is not your fault, but we can work to put your OCD struggles behind you together.
